Spend a day on Phi Phi Island
Considered the superstar island of Thailand, Phi Phi Island has gained widespread recognition for playing the central role in the 2000 Hollywood hit film The Beach.
Any traveler you find on this island is most likely discussing that film while being here! In fact, for a large number of tourists, it’s the biggest reason to visit Phuket. When you approach these islands by boat, you can see them rising from the sea in the form of a fortress.
In fact, tourism to the island has increased so much that the resorts are now fighting to save the place!
Visit Phang Nga Bay
Spending a day out at Phang Nga bay can be a very unique and unforgettable experience, guaranteed to get you thinking about many aspects of life.
What sets this bay apart from the others is the limestone cliffs jutting straight out from the emerald green waters. The islands you find in this area are actually home to some of the rare fauna which can be observed closely only on dedicated tours.
Koh Panyee and the James Bond Island are two of the many famous spots that you must check out in this bay.
Experience nightlife at Bangla Road
There aren’t many things in this world than can sufficiently prepare you to take a late-night stroll down the Bangla Road in Patong. However, having an open mind and a good sense of humour are necessary if you’re going out to have a good time.
This place has the biggest collection of bars, shows, nightclubs and everything on the to-do lists of Phuket’s night owls. Actually, it will pretty much serve as an all-out assault on your senses in the first instance.
Regardless of that, it remains one of the most important things you must do when in Phuket, even if it’s about ticking another entry off your bucket list.
Pay a visit to the Big Buddha
The Giant Buddha statue sitting atop the Nakkerd Hills, looking down over Rawai, Kata and Chalong, is visible even from the southern-most point of Phuket. The statue costed 30 million bahts and stands 45 m tall from the ground.
Next to the statue is a smaller golden image of Buddha, made up of brass. You can also visit a holy shrine situated right next to the car park. The drive up to this place will actually take you through the actual Thailand and the view you get from the top is nothing short of beautiful!
