Weekly Snapshot: Piñones Beach

Piñones Beach, Puerto Rico

Piñones Beach – Loiza, Puerto Rico

Playa Piñones is one of those beaches that everyone in Puerto Rico knows about and everyone loves to go for its good, greasy local food, its seafood restaurants, and nightlife full of salsa dancing and pool games.  While it is close to the airport and the touristic area of Isla Verde, Piñones still keeps a degree of seclusion and pristine beauty as if not too many people visit it or know about it.  The reefs close to the shore create a series of calm shallow, clear water pools that are great for relaxing or for families with small children.

In reality, the main reason to go to Piñones is to taste the local food that made the area famous among locals, which includes: Bacalaitos, Mofongo, Pionono, Arepa, Alcapurria, and Tacos.  Those are the local names, and they are all fried food/seafood.  So, watch out for your cholesterol as they are all delicious and will keep you asking for more!!
