Passports with Purpose: Build a Village in India

India Village

I’m extremely excited to be participating for the first time at the Passports with Purpose fundraising.  First, I truly believe in their cause, second, I want to be part of it.

What is Passports with Purpose?

Passports with Purpose (PwP) is the travel bloggers annual fundraiser. Last year, PwP raised nearly $30,000 to build a school in rural Cambodia. The Passports School opened in early October, and now, there are a few hundred kids learning, reading, and gaining the opportunity to thrive thanks to the efforts of many readers and travel bloggers like you and I.

This year, PwP has bigger goals. They are supporting LAFTI, an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of the Dalit (untouchable) population in India.  The goal is to raise at least $50,000 to build a village in India, providing homes for those that had never hoped to have a roof over their heads.  Pretty impressive, eh?

Personally, as a traveler and architect, I have made the point of taking an active role with causes like these; offering my services and knowledge as a volunteer to bring joy and hope to villages and communities in need.  An important aspect of my planned Round the World trip will be to volunteer helping causes like these.

But in the mean time, I can still do my best to do good and to change the world through this blog, by giving a hand to PwP.

How am I helping?

I’m lending a hand by personally donating and by spreading the word through this blog. I’m joining hundreds of bloggers who are spreading the word, and even more amazing, who have secured kick-ass prizes to be awarded to various donors.  (wish I had those prize-gathering persuasive powers)

How can you help?

PWP2Do you have $10 to spare?  This is all you need to help.  Of course, the more you can spare, the better.

When you look at the PwP donation page/prize catalog, you have the opportunity to check out the selection of prizes. Then, for each $10 donation to LAFTI, you get entered into a drawing for the prize(s) of your choice. It’s really easy!  Prize winners will be announced on December 17th.

Check Passports with Purpose donation page and get that warm fuzzy feeling by donating to this good cause.

Take time to be kind, and rock this world!
